All Is Not Forgotten by Wendy Walker

On August 5, 2016

By Sophia Whitfield
Wendy Walker’s debut novel is a psychological thriller that explores the use of a new controversial treatment that has helped soldiers overcome PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

A teenage party goes horribly wrong, ending in the rape of 15-year-old Jenny Kramer. Jenny’s hour long rape ordeal throws her family and local community into despair.

Psychologist Dr Alan Forrester proudly describes his medical qualifications at the start of his narration of Jenny's story. He is treating Jenny and her parents a year after the rape occurred.

Jenny’s mother Charlotte, horrified by her daughter’s ordeal and desperate for her not to suffer, seeks a new and controversial treatment to remove Jenny’s memory of that night.

Despite her parent’s best efforts, Jenny knows something is wrong. She touches the scar chiseled on her by her attacker, aware that something terrible has happened but she is unable to unlock the memory of that night.

Everyone around her knows what has happened and instead of remaining an unpopular teenager she becomes more of a celebrity to her peers with everyone wanting to spend time with her. This does nothing to dissuade her from her fears.

While Jenny’s mother tries to lock out her daughter’s suffering, Tom Kramer, Jenny’s dad, becomes obsessed with finding Jenny’s rapist. The more clues unfold the more Tom is prepared to follow the path that leads to the man who brutally attacked his daughter.

Walker’s novel explores the lengths parents will go to in order to protect their children. It is thrilling and terrifying. The novel has already been picked up by Reese Witherspoon’s production company, with Witherspoon keen to play Jenny’s mum Charlotte. All Is Not Forgotten is a compelling novel with an intricate plot line that twists and turns until reaching its final conclusion.
