This week in publishing awards have been announced, children's books celebrated and the publishing date confirmed for one very controversial book.

A firsthand account of the death of Osama bin Laden has been penned by a former Navy SEAL, under the pseudonym Mark Owen. He claims to have been involved in the raid that killed Osama bin Laden and present at his death. The book will be released on September 11.

The books title is No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission that Killed Osama bin Laden and will be published by Dutton, an imprint of Penguin in the US. The book has not been vetted by the Pentagon.

The Age Book of the Year Awards have been announced. Congratulations to the winners.

If you walked into a school this week you might just have come across Harry Potter, Pippi Longstocking or even Where’s Wally. Children across the country this week celebrated Children’s Book Week with the traditional Book Parade. The week began with the release of the winners of the CBCA awards and continued with authors streaming into schools to share their joy of stories.

Ian McEwan’s latest tome, Sweet Tooth, has just been released. McEwan has already caused a stir at the Edinburgh International Book Festival by stating he is not a British author, but an English one.

"I put it to you that there are no British poets, there are no British novelists," McEwan said. "I have heard myself described as one, but I think really I'm an English novelist; there are Scottish poets and Scottish novelists."
