Dirty Dancing to be remade for TV

On December 10, 2015

The 1987 classic Dirty Dancing is being remade for television by US network ABC.

Abigail Breslin, who first came to our attention in Little Miss Sunshine (2006), is set to play Baby Houseman, the character made famous by Jennifer Grey in the original film.

Directed by Australian Wayne Blair (The Sapphires), Dirty Dancing will be a three-hour TV show.

It has been a controversial decision with die- hard fans appalled that the classic will be tampered with. However Eleanor Bergstein, who wrote the original screenplay, is on board for this small screen adaptation.

Of course it has sparked great interest in the part of Johnny. Who could possibly fill the shoes of Patrick Swayze?
