Donald Sutherland will star alongside Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant in the HBO six-episode drama The Undoing, written by David E Kelley. He will play Kidman’s father.

The series is based on the psychological thriller, You Should Have Known, The Undoing by Jean Hanff Korelitz.

Kidman is Grace Sachs, a happily married therapist with a young son. She thinks she knows everything about women, men and marriage. She is about to publish a book called You Should Have Known, based on her pet theory: women don't value their intuition about what men are really like, leading to serious trouble later on.

When there is a violent death and her husband (Hugh Grant) goes missing she questions everything she thought she knew. Left behind in the wake of a very public disaster, and horrified by the ways in which she has failed to heed her own advice, Grace must dismantle one life and create another for herself and her child.

You can buy the book here in Australia and here in the UK.
