The book is told from the alternate first person perspectives of two conjoined twins, Taema and Tila.

After fleeing the cult they were brought up in the twins have life saving surgery to replace their failing heart. They initially struggle with their own separateness. Having broken free from the isolation of the cult that didnít allow technology and instead delved into mind-altering meditation, they attempt to adapt to their new surroundings.

Ten years later Tila stumbles home to see her sister. She is covered in blood and arrested for murder. The San Francisco police suspect involvement with Verve, a powerful drug, and offer her twin sister Taema a deal. Taema must assume Tila's identity and gather information to bring down the drug syndicate. The police may then let her sister live.

The twins were once unable to keep secrets from each other. Now everything is clouded in secrecy.

There are so many twists and turns in this tautly plotted novel. An intriguing read that will keep your interest until the final page. Buy the book here in Australia and here in the UK.
