I realise this isn’t one particular book, but there is no possible way I could chose a favourite from this series. I mean, what child wouldn’t want to read about solving the crimes of smugglers and pirates with only the help of their three other friends and a dog?! However, my induction to these books was through my dad, who brought me home the first book in the series, Five on Treasure Island. A tom-boy, a dog, an island and gold coins soon had me captivated. My favourite thing to do as a kid was climb the large willow tree in our back yard and read every book I could get my hands on, up there.
Recently I watched a DVD on Enid Blyton, simply titled Enid. I have to admit, it left me feeling incredibly uncomfortable and the movie completely shattered my image of the woman who wrote these wonderful stories.
