Finally the news all you Muggles have been waiting for. Harry Potter is coming to the West End as a stage show.

Called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, it will premiere in the summer of 2016 at the Palace Theatre in London.

JK Rowling gave one small hint about the new production:
'To answer one inevitable (and reasonable!) question - why isn't Cursed Child a new novel? I am confident that when audiences see the play they will agree that it was the only proper medium for the story.'

It has been confirmed that the play will not be a prequel but will follow on from the final book. It's officially the eighth Harry Potter story. Harry Potter is working in the Ministry of Magic but it is his youngest son Albus who is the centre of this new story. Just how will he cope with the families legacy? The play will be in two parts. You could see the first part as a matinee and the second in the evening or come back the following night. It's up to you!

More than 30 actors will be in the play although casting is still being kept under wraps.

If 2016 is just too long to wait for your next dose of Harry Potter then try our quiz to test your knowledge. You may need to go back and read all the books again.
