In conversation with artist Ana Popescu
How did you begin collaborating with WRAP?
I've been following and admiring what Wrap do for a long time, and our collaboration started soon after they shared my work on Instagram last year. Initially they reproduced some of my existing artworks as greetings cards, but since then I've been creating original designs for the cards and notebooks. We're also going to be launching some wrapping paper designs into the collection soon too.
Describe your collection?
The collection is made up of greetings cards and notebooks. Half of the designs feature artwork from my painting series 'Homes', which depict a utopian view of the home. I explore the subject by combining architectural elements with light, shade and colour. And the other half of the collection is a series of original designs I created especially for Wrap, representing swimming pools and plants, and with summer as the central focus in these artworks.
What inspires your designs?
My designs and paintings are mainly inspired by architecture, design and water. I create all of my work by hand rather than digitally, working with pencil, felt tip pens, markers and brushes with acrylic paint.
