Julian Fellowes, writer of Downton Abbey, says he is keen to write a film version of the popular drama.

“I’d like a Downton film,” the 66 year-old said, “ I mean, I won’t be mysterious. If they decide to do it, I’ll certainly do it. I think it would be great.”

We got to know the Crawley family over six seasons and 51 episodes ending in the Christmas finale, which was watched by 6.9 million viewers. Since the show aired in 2010 it has garnered 120 million viewers and made international stars of many of the cast.

Julian Fellowes is not resting on his laurels; he is currently working on an adaptation of Anthony Trollope’s novel Doctor Thorne. The three part series stars Prince Harry’s former girlfriend Cressida Bonas.

One thing is for sure, Fellowes excels at period drama.

Doctor Thorne will premiere on ITV on March 6 at 9pm. No date has been set for Australia.Buy Doctor Thorne here.
