Kate Beckinsale and Chloe Sevigny last starred together in the comedy drama Last Days of Disco in 1998. They have teamed up once again with director Whit Stillman for Love & Friendship, an adaptation of Jane Austen’s novella Lady Susan which went unpublished in her lifetime.

Beckinsale, 41, will play the unscrupulous widow Lady Susan Vernon, who arrives at the country estate of her in-laws and attempts to find herself a new man while also trying to get her daughter Frederica married off to a wealthiest man. Sevigny stars as Lady Susan's intimate friend, Alicia, to whom she confides all her true scheming.

The film also stars Xavier Samuel (Twilight) as Lady Susan’s love interest, James Fleet, Jemma Redgrave, Emma Greenwell, Morfydd Clark, Tom Bennett and Justin Edwards.

Stephen Fry will play Mr Johnson, Alicia’s husband, whom Lady Susan refers to as:
" ... just old enough to be formal, ungovernable and to have the gout – too old to be agreeable, and too young to die".

Filming begins in Ireland next month. Buy the book here.
