Lisa loves words, reading and everything there is to love about books. She has dreamed of being a writer since she was a little girl – either that or a librarian - and after years of talking about it, was finally brave enough to put pen to paper (and let people actually read it). Tell Me No Lies is her second book and she joins us today to tell us all about it.

Was it hard to follow up such a successful debut?
I did feel quite worried about book two! There is a sense of expectation after such a successful debut, so although I didn't find the book difficult to write, I did feel under a bit of pressure to deliver something that would (hopefully!) live up to the first book.

What is it that draws you to the psychological drama?
I read a lot of psychological thrillers, so I think it was a natural draw for me. I didn't set out to write a psychological thriller, I wanted to write something that I would want to read … so it was inevitable!

Is it hard for you to move away from writing disturbing scenes and back into normal life caring for children?
It can be. I quite often need just half an hour to decompress before going back to cooking dinner and doing the ironing.

Who are the authors you take inspiration from?
I am a big fan of British thriller writers. I like C. L. Taylor, Peter James and Angela Marsons.

What’s next for you?
I am currently editing my third book, which is another psychological thriller. And then maybe I’ll get to take a little holiday!

tell-me-no-lies-finished-jacketTell Me No Lies is out now and is a fast-paced gripping thriller. You can buy it in Australia here and in the UK here.

Here's a bit about the book ...
Don't. Trust. Anyone. It was supposed to be a fresh start. A chance to forget the past and embrace the future. But can you ever really start again? Or does the past follow you wherever you go? Steph and Mark have just moved house, trying to find a way forward after all the secrets, lies and betrayal. But starting over isn't always easy. Especially when someone will go to any lengths to make sure you never forget …
