Nicole Kidman is in Sydney to join the cast of Top of the Lake: China Girl for the second series. Academy Award wining director Jane Campion is directing the six-part series. The last time the two worked together was in the costume drama The Portrait of a Lady.

Kidman said she is delighted to be back working in Sydney and to join a stellar cast, including Elizabeth Moss (Mad Men) who returns to her Golden Globe winning role for the second series.

"I'm very excited to be coming home to work with darling friend Jane Campion, whose work I respect and admire. I'm also so happy to be joining the incredible Elisabeth Moss”, said Nicole Kidman.

Joining Nicole Kidman for season two are David Dencik (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), Alice Englert (Beautiful Creatures, Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell) and Ewen Leslie (The Daughter).

The second season follows Moss’s character Det. Robin Griffin as she investigates a mysterious, unidentified body that washes ashore on Sydney’s Bondi Beach four years after the events of the first season.

The new season will air in 2017 on BBC First in Australia and BBC 2 in the UK.
