One minute with Loretta Hill

On January 15, 2014

Loretta Hill is a bestselling author who has drawn on her own outback engineering experiences of larrikins, red dust and steel-capped boots for her latest novel, The Girl in the Yellow Vest. She is also the author of the ebook Operation Valentine which will be released in February. You can follow Loretta on Twitter here.

What would be the title of your memoirs?

The Voices In My Head.   (My characters are always talking to me)

You have two books released in January and February. Tell us a little bit about them ...

The Girl in the Yellow Vest which is out now is the final instalment in my FIFO girls series and centres around another Barnes Inc construction team, this time in Queensland. There are actually two heroines in this novel. Mainly because when I first started writing it I couldn’t decide who I liked better as my main character. So in the end I ended up giving them both equal time on the page. Two heroines ended up meaning two heroes. So readers will be pleased to find out they’re getting two romances for the price of one with this novel.

My February release as e-book only, is actually a novella called Operation Valentine. And yes, it has a Valentine’s Day theme. My heroine, Sarah, needs a date for Valentine’s Day but given her track record, this is easier said than done. So she turns to an internet dating site for a logical fool proof way to meet her perfect match. Unfortunately, her plan gets some scrutiny from the bar manager who witnesses all her first dates.  When he steps in to give her some unwanted advice, things start to get interesting. I had a lot of fun with this little story.  Especially coming up with the world’s worst dates for my poor heroine. I hope readers will enjoy it.
