A Rodgers and Hammerstein biography will be released in 2018 to coincide with the 75th Anniversary of the opening of Oklahoma!, the pairís first musical collaboration.

Their most enduring musicals include The Sound of Music, South Pacific and The King and I. Opera Australia has had success with Lisa McCune and Teddy Tahu Jones playing the leads in both South Pacific and The King and I.

Together Rodgers and Hammerstein have won a Pulitzer Prize; 34 Tonys, 15 Oscars and two Grammys.

The biography, written by Todd S Purdum with the co-operation of the Rodgers and Hammersteinís publishing arm, will come out in 2018, 75 years after Oklahoma! opened at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven in March 1943. Purdum is a contributing editor to Vanity Fair and a senior writer at Politico.
