Henry James was so right. "There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

The Tea Terrace offers high tea and a regular menu to its customers in a fantastical setting. The inspiration for the Cinderella carriage that sits prominently in The Tea Terrace came from a trip to Disneyland.

You can now take high tea in a beautiful carriage. Owner Ehab first saw these enchanting carriages when he took his daughter to Disneyland. He drew a few sketches and commissioned a recreation for his three The Tea Terrace stores, two in London and one in Guildford. The carriages have been so popular that he has three more carriages arriving at the end of September.

It is the young women in their twenties that are flocking to have afternoon tea in a carriage with a glass of Prosecco. However birthday parties for young girls are also becoming increasingly popular and with the addition of the new carriages girls can have a party for twelve, with a visit from Cinderella. The perfect birthday party or outing for the school holidays.

When you step into The Tea Terrace itís like stepping into a fairy tale. There are high back throne chairs in pastel colours of pink, blue and silver, and even the lights, made from cups and saucers, add to the fantastical theme. There is plenty to read with famous quotes displayed on the walls.

Everything is English, from the Royal Albert china to the tea that comes from Cornwall. Taking tea at The Tea Terrace is an immersive fairy tale experience that will delight girls and young women.

Black beluga lentil, sweet potato and coconut stew

A simple weeknight stew, this is quick to make and delicious served with a cooked grain such as brown rice or quinoa. You could happily use cooked black beans instead...
