Based on the best-selling novel by Yann Martel, directed by Ang Lee. A young man who survives a disaster at sea is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While cast away, he forms an unexpected connection with another survivor: a fearsome Bengal tiger.

Monday: Homeland, 10.30pm, TEN
Carrie improvises to salvage her mission. Meanwhile, the CIA closes in on a leak.

Tuesday: The Great Train Robbery, 8.30pm, BBC First
Based on the true story of the 1963 train robbery, this film shows how a group of mid-level criminals masterminded by Bruce Reynolds joined forces with a corrupt solicitor to hijack the Bank Holiday mail train from Glasgow to Euston. But their meticulous planning was compromised by a violent attack on the train driver and a botched getaway.

Wednesday: Ripper Street, 9.30pm, 13th St
S1, Ep6. Tournament Of Shadows: As the dock strike of August '89 takes hold, the killing of a Jewish anarchist leads Reid and the team into the heartless chicanery of the British government's fight against global terrorism.

Thursday: Madam Secretary, 8.30pm, TEN
Elizabeth, Henry and Isabelle launch their own investigation into the plane crash that killed former Secretary of State Vincent Marsh. Meanwhile, Nadine takes the plunge back into the dating pool.

Friday: Death Comes to Pemberley, 8.30pm, ABC
Based on the book by P.D. James. The peace at Pemberley is broken when an unexpected guest brings news of a murder.

Saturday: The Whistleblower, 8.30pm, SBS
A drama based on the experiences of Kathryn Bolkovac, a Nebraska cop who served as a peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia and outed the UN for covering up a sex scandal. Starring Rachel Weisz and Vanessa Redgrave.
