Jason Hewitt is a novelist, playwright and actor. He was born in Oxford, and lives in London. He is the author of The Dynamite Room and Devastation Road. Both of which have been selected as Book of the Week on Culture Street.

As well as writing novels Jason is also a playwright and actor. His first full-length play, Claustrophobia - produced by To the Moon, in association with Theatre Bench - premiered at Edinburgh Fringe in August 2014, was previewed at the St James Theatre, London, and will have a three-week run at The Hope Theatre in London from Nov 17.

As an actor he has performed major roles in a number of plays including Pericles, A Christmas Carol, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, The Merchant of Venice and King Lear (directed by Sir Jonathan Miller).

In the interview Jason gives us a behind the scenes look at writing his latest novel which is set at the end of the Second World War. He describes the similarities between the journey that took place at the end of the Second World War with 11 million people displaced in Europe and the current Syrian refugee crisis.
