Will this catch on?

On August 1, 2012

By Sophia Whitfield

Whilst all the Europeans are sunning themselves on their annual summer holiday, we are struggling through the last days of our winter.

After the usual drop in gym attendance through the cold months, bodies are now flocking back to gym toning up for summer, all in search of the perfect swimsuit body. As we power away on the treadmill we dream of lying on the beach with a book in our hand, the ultimate leisure activity.

Kate Imbach knows this and has come up with a savvy site that pairs swimwear with books. Matchbook could be seen as motivation for readers to go back to turning the real paper pages of a real book, instead of the ebook alternative. Thanks to Imbach fashion lovers can now pair their favourite book with unique swimwear.

Imbach includes the title, the designer of the book and the first sentence in each book along with details of the swimwear. She makes it easy for the time poor holiday maker. The books are linked to Amazon and the swimwear to individual online shopping facilities.

Featured here is Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment coupled with a Chromat swimsuit.

What do you think?

Will it catch on?

We have a few months to decide which swimsuit and which book before we hit the beach!
